Melting

Induction melting operations producing grey iron and ductile iron for automotive brake
components used in cars. Controlled metal chemistry and temperature management
ensure consistent casting quality.

Induction Melting Infrastructure for Iron Casting Production

SACPL operates induction melting furnaces at our Coimbatore foundry, handling grey iron and ductile iron production for brake drums, brake discs, and other automotive components for cars. Our melting capacity supports both volume orders and batch production, with furnaces sized to meet the heat requirements of automotive casting. Tapping temperatures are carefully controlled depending on casting requirements.

The melting department manages metal chemistry from raw material selection through final pouring. Pig iron, scrap, and ferro-alloys are charged based on calculated ratios for each grade. Spectrometer analysis verifies chemistry before tapping, and carbon, silicon, manganese, and trace elements are adjusted to meet specified requirements. For ductile iron production, magnesium treatment is applied to modify graphite structure for improved mechanical properties. This controlled approach to melting ensures the material consistency required for automotive brake components used in cars, enabling reliable performance under thermal and mechanical stress.
