Knockout

Casting extraction operation separating brake disc, drum and torque plate
components from sand molds after controlled cooling periods.

Casting Separation and Initial Cleaning Operations

After castings cool in their molds, our knockout operations separate the components from the sand and allow into the cooling & DIDION drum for proper removal of sand. Our knockout equipment handles this extraction carefully to avoid casting damage while removing them from the mold

Knockout timing matters, since castings need sufficient cooling to develop their metallurgical structure, our automated mold line knockout system monitor and control cooling times in defined period Once separated, castings undergo initial inspection for obvious defects like cracks, incomplete fills, or sand inclusions. Components passing this check move forward to fettling operations. Sand from knockout is returned to the sand plant for reconditioning and reuse, maintaining our material cycle and reducing waste in the foundry process.
